ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a unique Institute of its own kind in the country, having unconventional and innovative academic programmes. It is located at Nirjuli, in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, the land of rising SUN and the Orchid state of India. This state is blessed with a rich landscape situate at foothills of eastern Himalaya.
NERIST is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. It was established in 1984 to produce technical manpower at various levels and to meet the technical requirements for the all round development of the North Eastern States of India. NERIST got the status of Deemed-to-be-University on 31st May 2005 under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. It offers modular pattern of education in all disciplines of Engineering along with Forestry as an applied science discipline. It also offers various postgraduate (M.Tech, M.B.A & M.Sc.) and doctoral programmes in all branches of engineering, applied science, physics, chemistry, mathematics and humanities. Recently, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has provisionally accredited five of the undergraduate engineering programmes of NERIST (including Civil Engineering).

NERIST is well connected by Air from Kolkata and Delhi. Daily Flight services are available from Kolkata and Delhi to Itanagar. Nearest airport in Assam from NERIST is Lilabari and Dibrugarh. Journey time from Dibrugarh to NERIST is approximately 4 hrs by Taxi or Rail.
Railway Services
Daily intercity rail services are available from Guwahati to Naharlagun and Harmuti. Satabdi Train runs at 13.30 hrs on Friday, Monday and Wednesday from Guwahati to Naharlagun. Railway tickets may be booked from Indian Railways website https://www.irctc.co.in.
Bus Services
Multiple Night/Day super (semi-sleeper/sleeper) bus services are available from ISBT, Guwahati, Assam. Some of the buses permit online booking of tickets. Shared/ hired cab is also available from Guwahati Airport.
